EIOG Presents Update on Fairburn Preserve

Fairburn City Council and Connie ThomasThe Environmental Institute of Georgia presented its plans and progress for the Fairburn Nature Preserve at the Fairburn City Council work session on September 14.

The Preserve is the vision of the city of Fairburn to create a multipurpose eco-center that includes a Mitigation Bank, Nature Center, Environmental Education Center, and Conference Building on 310 acres of protected and preserved land.  Read More.


EIOG Co-Sponsors Rivers Alive Events

Rivers AliveEnvironmental Institute of Georgia has teamed-up with partners in Fayette County, Fayetteville, and Tyrone to sponsor five Rivers Alive events this fall.

Rivers Alive is Georgia's annual volunteer waterway cleanup event that targets all waterways in the State including streams, rivers, lakes, beaches, and wetlands.

Adopt-A-Stream Students in 7th Year

McIntosh High School studentsOn a humid August afternoon, four teams of students dressed in knee-high rubber boots followed their instructors down a wooded path to an outdoor classroom near a stream in the Peachtree City Nature Center.

These students joined the ranks of 155 other McIntosh High School students who have become certified over the past seven years through the Georgia Adopt-a-Stream Program.
